Students are prepared for all levels of examination from basic knowledge to intermediary and advanced level.
Main qualifications
Cambridge ESOL Certificates · Cambridge ESOL (English for speakers of other languages ) are the leading international certificates in the use of English.
Cambridge ESOL is part of Cambridge University.
First Certificate in English · This exam is at higher intermediate level and is intended to test a students ability to use English effectively with confidence in a range of spoken and written contexts.
It is the most widely taken of the Cambridge ESOL examinations.
Certificate in Advanced English · An advanced level qualification which indicates the ability to communicate confidently in English for work or academic purposes.
Certificate of Proficiency in English · Highly advanced level for students with a high level of understanding of written and spoken English which they are able to use in almost any context.
All of the above exams test reading, writing, listening and the spoken use of the language.
Cambridge ESOL exams are held in June and December.
Registration takes place takes place in March and October respectively.
Exams for University and college entrance
IELTS (International English language Testing System) · This is widely used to test the level of students wishing to enter a University or College in the UK or other English speaking countries.
IELTS exams are held every week.
LCCI (London Chamber of Commerce Exams) · Examinations of the LCCI are based on the ability to communicate in a business context.
Exams are offered at a variety of levels from basic spoken to advanced written and spoken business English.
LCCI examinations are held in March, June and November.
Course Format
Students follow a combination of 15 x 1 hour lessons of general English or business English classes per week, plus 5 x 1 hour lessons per week aimed at exam preparation, study of past papers and strengthening of key skills to be tested in their examination of choice.
Total lesson time 15 hours per week plus a 1 hour personal tutorial per week.
Students will also be set 1 hour of optional home study per day.
Lessons take place each day between 9.30 and 3.30pm with a 1 hour lunch break and regular coffee and refreshment breaks.
Students will have unrestricted access to Kingsmores on line library of self-learning modules as part of its on site language learning facility.
All students are provided with a welcome pack on enrolment including learning materials and resources.
All students are allocated a personal tutor upon enrolment who will be responsible for their academic progress and for providing general assistance and support.
Additional Personal Tuition 1-2-1
Students may purchase additional 1 hour lessons of individual tuition with a personal tutor if they wish to follow a more intensive course of study.
Examination registration requirements
Registration deadlines are subject to demand and can often be in excess of 2 weeks. Students intending to study for less than 4 weeks are advised to register for the examination of their choice before starting their course.
