European Computer Driving License Kingsmore offers a business computing course to prepare you for the European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL). This exam is an internationally recognised qualification in computer skills. The ECDL is a way to measure competence in computing for both employers and employees. No computer experience is necessary and this course is an excellent addition to any English language course such as general English, business English or legal English.

Course requirements

Course format

The business computing course consists of 5 x 1 hour per day lessons per week for the duration of 12 weeks. This course is split up into 7 individual modules, allowing the student to gain skills in general computing, Microsoft Windows®, Microsoft Word®, Microsoft Excel®, Microsoft Access®, Microsoft PowerPoint® and Microsoft Outlook®. Each module can also be taken individually, thus shortening the duration of the course.

Word processing

Learn how to effectively use the world's most used text processor. Knowing how to use Word® is an essential skill for anybody who is dealing with administrative work within any business. The Word® module treats the following topics amongst others:

Spreadsheets

Microsoft Excel® is a spreadsheet application used not only in business but in many households for accounts purposes. The Kingsmore business computing course will teach the student how to make the most out of this extremely popular spreadsheet program. This module will give, amongst others, attention to:

Microsoft Excel

Databases

The business computing course will give the student insight in how to create and manage their own database. Databases are used in almost every business and are one of the most effective ways to store information. This course will explain the student all the aspects of Microsoft Access®, for example:

Presentations

Giving a presentation is one of the most daunting tasks for most business people. The business computing course will show the student how to create a presentation using Microsoft PowerPoint® and also pays attention on the actual giving of a presentation. Some of the aspects of these modules are:

The Internet is the worlds most used platform for sharing information and communication. The Kingsmore business computing course will teach the students all the necessary skills to deal with the Internet. Some of the highlights of this module are:

Many people have used the computer before but do you really know how to use it? The Kingsmore business computing course gives students full control over the computer and let's you explore all of its potential. At the end of a business computing course, the student can choose to take the EDCL exam for any or all of the above modules. Kingsmore will assist the student with the examination registration.

Students not wishing to take the 12 week course for the EDCL examination can select units from the course syllabus above to form short flexible study options of 2 or 4 weeks. Short business computing study modules can be combined with any Kingsmore International language course.

Additional optional private Study

Students wishing to supplement classes have the option of additional private study using interactive software programmes designed to teach and practice course material. Our private study facilities are available 24 hours to students.
